Can anybody help me regarding Strava please? I haven`t used my Garmin (Edge 500) for a year or so, and the last time I used it it was easy to upload into Strava, now it isn`t!! I can see no way of uploading rides, it just waffles on about "synching" with Garmin yada yada yada, and doesn`t actually do anything. Can anybody tell me how it works now please? I spent 2 hours last night trying....and gave up. Thanks

Is the 500 a WiFi model? My 705 needs a cable to connect to the laptop and has no problems via Garmin Connect.

No, it needs a cable, it works fine with Garmin connect, but I always used to upload to Strava without a problem, now they seem to have changed it with no obvious way of uploading to it

Upload Activity/File/Browse, browse to your Garmin, look in the Activities folder for the latest file and select that one, the Garmin Connect plugin hasn't worked for me for about a year

You need to connect your Garmin Connect account with Strava. Look in settings. Then when you upload to Connect it connects to Strava via Connect: Simple

I know that`s what is meant to happen, but it isn`t, I can find nothing to set this up, and right now I`m going to walk away from it for a few hours because it`s winding me up. Why do people sell these devices if they are such a pig to get working??

I`m going to lay down in a darkened room:banghead:

Might the problem be on the Strava end rather than the Garmin? As has been said, they have to be linked to each other to auto upload.

Manual up load selecting the file from your garmin/ activities folder is always most reliable. Sometimes mine uploads on plugging in, sometimes doesn't.

That is the whole thing with garmins, a brilliant yet frustrating piece of kit that should be so much easier to use.

My modus operandi is to open G Connect, once it's running, I plug the Garmin in and click on Sync.
A short while later, I get an alert on my phone saying that the ride is 'ready'. From there, or Strava on the laptop, I allow the ride to be visible, edit name, privacy etc.
