there is also a chance that a work colleague has kindly super glued your lock 'for fun'. i think nail polish remover may work or some stronger acetone.hth

It should always be taken seriously as this is a tactic for thieves...

Nice bike, but a bit risky to nick during the day... so superglue the lock, knowing the person is most likely to have to go home as the area closes to fetch tools, or even better bring them back the following morning.

Now you have a nice quiet and undisturbed area to deal with the lock at leisure.

And even if someone does ask you have a damaged lock and can use the excuse to justify why you are boltcropping it.

How do we know we are not instructing a local oik how best to tackle this lock on similarly locked bikes?
