Help! Tyre deflating after being pumped up.

If it's a shrader borrow a valve cap from a nearby car [it would be nice to ask of course]. Most workmates would lend a valve cap to get you home, [if not I'd try finding some new mates].

Valve caps dont hold air.

If you want a cap have a snout round the airline station at a garage. there is usually a couple that drivers have forgotten to refit!

It would be handy if you could remove the valve core,clean it & put it back.For this you would need a valve tool,all good bike shops,& car accessory shops,as it is essentially the same as a car valve,keep these.Also if there is a car tyre shop nearby,it would take seconds to remove & refit.One last option,scout round some of the older cars parked up,it was not uncommon for a valve key to be incorperated into the cap.

You have the LBS up on the High Road at Broxbourne, used to be Cycledaelia. I ride that way a lot, but unfortunately not today.

Bizarrely, I had a look at the valve and the middle part seemed to be stuck down. I shoved it with a paper clip and it's started working again!

Be worth dropping in to Halfords on your way home and getting a valve tool and a new valve insert. That one may give trouble again.
