What sort of weight are you? How fat is fat?
I'm quite a big guy, been cycling now for just under a year on a 29er mountain bike, with road tyres fitted and I would love to average 15mph.
To be honest it sounds a bit like you are looking for a bit of recognition as clearly you have trained to a level of fitness before, albeit some time ago. It seems to me that you know that sort of distance in that time is pretty good.
Nothing wrong in wanting others to recognise an achievement. I would proudly state those figures.
Well done.

Training for beginner 40 year old fat man who has just completed a first ride of 29 miles in 1 hour 50 minutes.....
Your timing for the distance for a beginner is OK, so now we need to look at fat reduction, the question is how fat is fat or are you a well built chap. I lost weight by taking the MTB out on the trails and rode a steady 30 Km route both on road and bridleway around the Northdowns in the Dorking area. The point is that it is a enjoyable way to lose weight and increase fitness and has knocked off over a stone of blubber in a month.

His actual average is 15.8 mph (unless my maths is wrong which is quite likely)
