What about pigeons?
Can I someone shoot them? are they officially classed as vermin?
Come to that what about my neighbours doves that crap everywhere are they posh pigeons?

They are covered by the DEFRA General Licence which sets out the permitted methods of pest control. You'll need to read the details, but in general, an authorised person (owner or authorised by owner) can shoot them to prevent damage to crops and property.

I'd question that statement that pellets will bounce off wood Patrick. My air rifle (bog standard lightweight kiddy gun) will bury pellets to their full depth in planking, garden structures etc. Of course this could be a problem if you're shooting at the limit of the guns range.

It depends upon the angle, the power and the type of wood. As a youth I discovered this the hard way when a pellet bounced back from a post and parted my hair. Even if the wood is soft, the pellet can richochet off a knot.

Fair enough, but in the context of Mr Paul's Rat-O-Rama Shooting Gallery then he should have no trouble erecting a soft wood backstop with no knot holes.

Rats are, of course, notoriously fond of amateur dramatics. If Mr Paul was to construct a model theatre and leave a selection of costumes (perhaps for an Alan Ayckbourn comedy, although more high brow rats may prefer Ibsen) then he should have no problem potting them as they stand in the spotlight and deliver a small speech.

I think I'll pass. Our three year old would be too appetising.

Spoilsport . He hasn't eaten my nephew yet, and he's got to be at least 2 now. Or maybe he's 4. I've lost track. Actually I definitely think he is between the ages of 2 and 3.
