Hello all, I've had my Specilized P2 hardtail bike for a while now and has just been sat in my garage due to a buckled Rim (Back Wheel, SNAPPED ) i was just wondering where i can buy a new one from as i have been searching EVERYWHERE and cannot find the answer !

STOCK ( what is already fitted to the bike )
Tyre : specialized Compound Control, 26x2.2", 60tpi, Aramid Bead
Rim : ALEXRIMS HDR Double wall, 559x22, 6061-T6, 26

All i want is the new rim so i can transfer the hub and tyre over to it as i want to sell the bike but would like to fix the back rim first

if anyone could help me it would be very much appreciated !!

You may find that the cost/effort involved in renewing only a rim may be more hassle than it's worth these days?
Back in the day - rebuilding a wheel from the hub up from scratch was fairly common, but these days it seems (for better or worse-throwaway society etc.) a darn sight easier and cost effective to simply buy a new wheel of your choice and they are out there by the shed-load to fit yours at all levels of budget and quality. I just replaced the 26'' wheels on our old 'shed' bike for 20 quid each....proper shimano cassette free hubs and all....or you can pay a grand for a pair! Take your choice.

I would only contemplate having a rim rebuilt onto a hub if I had an expensive or exotic hub in the first place - thinking £200 -£300 'Hope', Chris King or Royce hubs. I don't THINK you have these.

Of course - if you are adept at rebuilding wheels yourself...or are willing to go through a steep learning curve to learn how - then rebuilding would while away a few hours.......but I know it would make my brain hurt coping with all those spokes and fussing with tensions and 'dishing' and truing. Not something to take on lightly! Or you can pay somebody to do it - but they would want to be working with spendy high quality parts to make it worthwhile.

Ready made hand-built wheels are easy to find.....and not TOO expensive.....factory or machine made even easier and as cheap as you like. Ask your LBS?

EDIT.....I've just looked at the hub-spec on your particular bike and they DO look pretty decent quality...............so it just MAY be worthwhile having new quality rims fitted (at some cost)...again.....your local shop will advise you. Can you - in fact - rebuild wheels yourself? In which case you shold be able to find a good choice of rims to fit from Mavic et al.

The bit where my finger is, is the "Rim" thats snapped ? i went to my local bike shop when this first buckled (snaped) and they said yeah that bit ( where my finger is) has snapped and will need replacing.

all i need is that bit and i know a few people that could do the rest for me

thanks for contacting me

OK.....If you have indeed snapped your rim (I can't see the break in your pic) then it must be replaced......either by a new wheel or by having a new rim built onto the hub.

http://www.alexrims.com/product.asp?sc=1&cat=19&cat2=20

One of these would fit the bill if that is the route you want to take (many other makes and styles available-not just 'Alex')...........I'm guessing that these would start at about 40 or 50 quid a go and much more as you went further up the scale.
If you know 'a few people' prepared and with the necessary skill to rebuild the rim back onto the hub for you without charging the sort of price that that this would generally demand...then you would be sorted.

I would just buy a new wheel!! (But YMMV........It's possible that that very rim/wheel combination cannot be duplicated...........it may have been OEM specced by specialised or discontinued......I can't find the exact model of rim you describe I'm afraid.

I think what you need to do is find out the ERD of your current rim. Once you know that and the number of holes then you can search for rims of different manufacturers. Much easier task.
I can't see the damage to the rim properly so I wont comment on that.

So, find yourself a rim with very similar ERD and that takes the same number of spokes and then your friends can rebuild it for you.

I think you may not be able to get a matching rim/wheel new - Alex rims are mostly OEM, i.e. they sell to manufacturers rather than retail. You might find one on ebay if you're lucky. Your simplest option would be to buy a new wheel that looks similar. Cheapest option is to find a rim with matching dimensions, but probably only worth it if you are ok building/truing a wheel yourself.

Sorry i forgot to add:

the picture with the crack just looks like where the two ends meet to me... not really a crack, but im not that good with bikes and that could be why my wheel is buckled.

Also here are the tyre and rim descriptions:-
Tyre : specialized Compound Control, 26x2.2", 60tpi, Aramid Bead
Rim : ALEXRIMS HDR Double wall, 559x22, 6061-T6, 26

Could you send me a few links of what rims/wheels e.c.t that are the same dimensions/specification so i can just throw it on the bike and sell it !

i cant thank you guys enough for all your time + help
