I know, I'm sorry. This is why I have always resisted the urge to comment in helmet debates but it is like Pandoras box and once you start you can't stop!

Years ago way back when I was in my teens we would usually ride about acting foolish (as teens do) and every so often I would go over the handlebars and hit my head on the ground, all I would get would be a bump on the head, and even a couple of years ago I was involved in an accident with a car, I hit my head on the windscreen and only got a small bump on the head, I'm sure if I was wearing a helmet it would probably had cracked or broken in two and then everyone would be saying how it saved my life.

I have no problems with cycle helmets. If people choose to wear them that's fine, if people choose not to wear them that's fine too. It's cycle helmet compulsion I have a problem with. A very big problem.

Very nice post "i like scol". You can wear whatever you want, but all these " it saved my life" stories are getting a very lame argument.

I do. All the time. But have never really been convinced that they necessarily will make a difference in an accident, most of the time.

Having been knocked off by a car and seeing the dent in the side of the helmet, I now think that anyone that doesn't wear one is asking for trouble

Is it worth the risk?

If that's the thinking then everyone should wear helmets all the time. When walking, when sleeping, when showering, when running, when driving, when watching TV, when using a computer, when using stairs, when riding escalators, when riding in trains, when riding in buses...
