I guess I buck the trend then. Still using my Bell MTB helmet complete with peak/visor when out on the road bike. It might not look pro, but it's a good lid and I can't imagine I'd get any really appreciable value, with the type of riding I do, if I spent a load of money on an aero helmet.

I spend lots of money on lids. I've got a Casco Warp Sprint, and a Casco speed time, at present. The speed time is very cleverly designed, it's about as aerodynamic as it gets, weighs less than an empty crisp packet, the advantage is most noticeable on a fast descent. The reduction in buffeting is noticeable, as is the fact your eyes don't water, and you don't have the annoyance of glasses slipping down your nose, every time you hit a bump in the road.

I very much doubt the Casco Speedtime is anywhere near "as aerodynamic as it gets". For a start it is a stubby helmet, stubby helmets are not as fast as proper full blown teardrop helmets on the vast majority of riders. Stubby helmets are good at accommodating a wide range of rider positions adequately (but not optimally) and for events where you will be looking around a lot, which is certainly not true of a time trial (the discipline for which that helmet is intended) where you head will be in the same place for the duration of the race bar the turn or a couple of corners.
