I already use silk liners which do make a difference. I guess I'll just have to layer up with three of four pairs and delay the inevitable for as long as possible. I don't do long rides in the winter but looking at cycling back from my sister's on Xmas day, which takes about and hour and a quarter. No point spending mega bucks just for one longish winter ride.

Warmest gloves I ever had were Aldi golf mittens. Fine for mountain biking in sub zero temperature - didn't need fingers for gripshift.

I have very cold hands and feet and recently bought a pair of heated insoles new (other) on eBay made by a company called Winnaheat.com. These are superb quality and among other things the heat is focused on the toes unlike many others. They also make heated gloves again focusing on the fingers which some others don’t. They are much more reasonable than other brands probably because you are buying directly from the manufacturer. I was going to buy but then found a really cheap £13 pair of gloves on eBay which say they have heating around the fingers, so I may risk these
