It appears that Wordle is far too serious for a witty aside. 🙄
I presume I can now make comment on yesterday’s word and say that I’m surprised that Bloke was used in an American game as i presumed it was a very British word.

I agree and was very surprised by it. I was only successful on the sixth line as "bloke" was the only possibility from my remaining letters. I had accepted defeat and used it just to get me finished.

I'm ready for American spellings and don't think it's a problem. I feel "English" speakers are far more likely to be familiar with American spellings than vice versa. If only because spell checkers often highlight such words.

Given his background it's not surprising the word is included but one might have expected NYT to remove it. If I was an American player I'd be unhappy with British slang and likewise would, as a Brit, be unhappy with American slang especially as Wordle is now owned by the NYT.
