Elder Son has informed me that if I wear most of those he'd have to shoot me.

I've also got a Tilley (Airflo model) for hiking, really great for hot sunny weather (this pic was in Greece) but just as good in the rain as well.

For really cold weather I've got a Lowe Alpine mountain cap, they were all the rage for exercises when I was in the military (designated as the Cap, Brian, dangerous, Mk11 (civilian).

Mrs SD & I have something that looks like the first hat but with drop down nets - we only use these when we think flies etc will be a nuisance as neither of us can stand the things near our face/necks. Great for cutting the lawn too when the little bighters congregate around us.

Other than that they are useless in the mountains in wind as they flap about and are very annoying.

So instead Lowe Alpine 'baseball' caps with built in SPF are our choice for the hills.

We often carry both types for mixed terrain. All are very scrunchable.
