A proper balanced meal
Yep....no need for fancy stuff. Meat for some protein and some tatties and veg. Although, if you want a quick fix, some people swear by chocolate milk. Same idea, nice mix of carb/protein/fat.
If it's a morning ride, my favourite is to ride on an empty stomach if I'm not going too far and then have a mahoosive plate of cereal with lots of milk. Always hits the spot.

What's good stuff to eat when you feel massively hungry after a long ride but won't make you pile on the pounds?
Cake
Chocolate
Cheese

Celery

I am two stone heavier than this time last year. I have been weight training like I used to do at uni and I'm nearly back to the level I was at then. Mind you, I'm not eating or drinking like then so I'm five stone lighter. 21 stone at 21 years old. I was strong but not healthy. Floated around 18 - 19 til a couple of years ago when I started walking everywhere then got the bike. Hit a low of 14 stone this time last year before going on holiday. 16 stone now. Most of that has gone on my back and chest. All my clothes still fit bar my shirts so body shape hasn't changed that much. Cycling's great as it allows me to eat a lot for the weight training but not get fat. Going to keep it up through the winter then I want to do a Triathlon next year so spring time I'll be backing off the weights a bit and concentrating on cardio. I'll get a six pack yet.

Yep. I've been cycling 9 months and put on 9 lb. Although the medication I take help me put on weight and health issues mean I don't always get out as often as I'd like. High intensity work is definitely out.

I've lost 5kg since January and am now lighter than I was when I was 20 (I'm 38). My walk around weight was always 72/73kg, went up to 75kg very slowly when I passed 35 then just fell off when I started cycling.

Those weights are clothed with shoes etc so I'm actually 1-1.5kg lighter. We have accurate stand on scales at work so I use those.

I eat absolutely anything I want and after a long ride will pick at junk all day. All I can put the weight loss down to is a jump in my metabolism.

Presumably you've changed your diet too?

I edited above, but no not really. The only real change is I used to take sandwiches to work for breakfast (I'm a postie) and now prefer some fruit and a yoghurt. I usually have a bag of crisps too as I like something savoury.

I have a takeaway every week too, sometimes twice, but other than that I eat pretty healthily as I always have done. I just have a real weakness for picking at stuff and getting hungry after meals, no matter how much I eat.

I have.
Did lose half a stone without trying when I started commuting to work, only 10 mile round trip.
Increasing frequency and distances, my appetite also increased  so now I'm half a stone heavier than when I started
Clothes, some fit, some are too big now

Yes indeed. I was about 2.5 stones when I started cycling in 1972, now I'm hovering around the 18 stone mark. Project this forward in time and I'll be 36 stone by the time im 90!
