Has anyone changed their name by deed poll?

I had a similar problem. My parents decided I should be called Andrew James Velvet-Curtain. However, between South Shields Maternity Hospital and the Registry Office there was a pub. So, by the time my dad had stopped for a quick refreshment or two and made it to register my presence in the World, the certificate he came out with said James Andrew Velvet-Curtain. He was not popular with my other parent.

Well at least he didn't forget the Velvet Curtain bit

I'm going to use my mum's maiden name, so will now be Debz Wright .

I changed my middle name to make my initials spell KEV, which is my name. It was fairly cheap and easy, although there's a hassle with driving licences, passports, bank accounts, etc.

A colleage at work changed her name to Dreamy Tree-Sprite so you can call yourself anything you feel comortable with.

I have a friend, who for similar reasons to Gromit, changed her surname to the place where she was born.

Just wondering if anyone has ever change their name by deed poll, how easy is it to do and how long did the process take?

Yes, I did it online a few years ago, it's pretty quick takes about half an hour. It's effective right away, but it takes a few days for the proofs to come though.
