As part of my london to brighton training this morning,Braved the rush hour and managed a good 30 miler session...burned off 1400 calories in the process.

Arrived home and the missus said those fateful words..."Fancy lunch at the all you can eat chinese buffet"...Well just got back and I can't move..how many calories in hot & sour soup, crispy duck pancakes..big plate of mixed starters another big plate of mains and jelly and fruit for afters.

Those bike rides don't half make you hungry!

It's all about raising your metabolic rate though .... the cycling that is, not the crispy duck.

Funny I was just thinking the same about how cycling makes you hungry, as I was stuffing another post-lunch chocolate bar... Just think how you would feel if you HADN'T done the 30 miler though!!

im a little tea pot
crispy chilli beef as well? lol

just think without the 30 miler how much larger your waistline would have got compared to how it is now!

just count it as protein for your recovery and carbs for your preperation, along with the fat meaning it is absorbed slower! win win i say

The perfect post ride recovery meal well balanced in Carbs (both high and low GI) and protein.

The Saturated fat content will help digestive transit as all your blood will have moved to your legs so you need something else to help lubricate it all and the high salt content will replace that which you have sweated away on your work out.

The fruit counts towards one of your five a day and if the jelly was strwberry flavoured thats two of your five a day nothwithstanding the wondrous anti oxidant properties of the strawberry.

I always feel hungry about 3.5 minutes after a chinese meal so surely it cannot count anyway, can it ?

On a serious note we all do it...I still feel hungry the day after a good (bike) ride. I do find that some milk with a scoop of whey protein and a small handful of dried fruit or a banana immediately after my ride helps to stave off the hunger pangs and keeps my hand out of the digestive tin.
