Unfortunately my mother is no longer with us and I'm to far away to go down and pay my respects, but she will be on my mind today. On a brighter note I believe my Good Lady will be spoilt today.

Awe, thanks @biggs682 . I've never wanted my two to make any fuss. As long as they are both happy, I'm happy.

Enjoying my morning propped up in my cosy bed at my caravan with cup of tea in hand. Brilliant.

Unfortunately my 96 year old Ma fell yesterday and broke her hip. It's decision time at this very moment on her Op. Suddenly Mother's Day takes on a whole new aspect.

My mum is in a home 30 miles away in St Annes near Blackpool. I've decided to go and see her today. I'm going by bike though, not by car. I'm setting off in about half an hour. It'll take me about 5 hours there and back, and with an hours visit in between i should be back around 4.30, all being well. She wont recognise me but it's something that has to be done. It's at times like this when i wish i had panniers. Ah well, sandwiches stuffed in back pockets and card down front of jersey, i should be ok.

Thanks everyone (inc @Stephenite ). It's life isn't it? Always happens to someone else. Doesn't help being ~250 miles away. No Op today - well it's a Sunday isn't it?

Anyway - have a great Mother's day all you lovely mothers out there (and fathers too for that matter).

Good for you Accy. A bike ride will take the edge of what is, I presume, a very difficult thing for you

I lost my mum just over a year ago and days like today are difficult but I know things will get better with time.

Thankfully mine is still with us , but for the first time i can remember i have not been able to visit as i am needed at home looking after my other half
