I have never been able to do it! I tried & tried as a kid, never mastered it.
So I gaze with admiration at the roadies as they fly over he finishing line arms held high over their heads in triumph, thinking how cool they look & how they dersve to be proud of their achivements & celebrate as they cross the line
But what I can't abide is watching the teens on their bso's flying down the road hands in their pockets, smoking or talking on their mobiles as they go... That is sheer lunacy & a fatality waiting to happen!

Aye thats a different kettle of fish: saw one knob head a while back almost go under a bus because he was pissing about on his bike in front of his mates. Not clever.

I do it to take lids of bottles and stuff, it's a useful skill! Plus, it does feel great going round corners purely by leaning  Btw, it's much easier the faster you go - it doesn't work very well at 5 mph

I am probably the only person on the forum who is wuss enough to say but if you haven't got a hand on the bar you haven't got full control of your bike, yes it looks cool but I don't think it's clever.

It's a useful skill to have, not one to practice whilst there are any hazards around, but when things go wrong* it can be necessary.

*A fairly new 'bike, back in the ninetys: Second ride out, the tube connecting the forks to the handlebars broke = no connection between where I pointed the handlebars and where the front wheel went. I was overtaking cars at the time! Using the brakes would have caused the wheel to rotate like a castor, I had to negotiate my way back into and through the traffic stream and then slow down without the brakes - all whilst congratulating myself on having learned to ride 'no hands'.

Went for a sedate family bike ride today and practiced a bit more, managed to take my t-shirt off and on again and did a little bit of cornering... Definetly getting more confident with my all round balance.
