Hooray, for today I finally rode my racer with no hands!!!!!! For a little bit hands in the air like Cav.

I could ride with no hands on my mountain bike, but something about the road bike really put me off trying, different center of balance I guess.

Sussed just sit bolt up right leaning slightly back, truly I'm chuffed.

I rode a road bike for the first time ever the other day, and decided to give it a go - it turns out it's not that different to doing it on a mtb! Although, the steering is affected more by bumps, loose stones etc so it's more likely to go wrong

I have found it easier to ride no handed on a road bike than a mountain bike. I have had to do it to adjust my jersey, etc. Its pretty easy I think.

Up until last year, I hadn't been non-handed for about 10 years, and despite the initial mental block managed to do it again.

Funny what sticks with you over the years.

It's easier with more speed as the gyroscopic forces stabilise the wheels.

Used to do it all the time as a kid - just tried again recently and after a few wobbles it all came back - easy really, like.... riding a bike!

I am probably the only person on the forum who is wuss enough to say but if you haven't got a hand on the bar you haven't got full control of your bike, yes it looks cool but I don't think it's clever.

Do you not think its a useful skill to have, putting on arm warmers rain jackets, taking said items off again? Especially when in a group stopping and then trying to catch up again is a bit daft if all you have to do is spend a bit of time mastering a new bike handling skill.... Hey and it looks cool too, no?
