Hi thinking of changing my Sora groupset to full 105 or maybe Ultegra (if it's on a sale offer)
As I am not mechanically advanced enough to do full upgrade myself, does anyone know roughly how much a shop would charge roughly, yes i could phone but would prefer any guide pricing first to help me over the shock first.Im guessing all cables wil need upgrading too ,full spec upgrade.

I got charged around £75 Per bike last year when I did a transplant of groupset between two bikes, plus parts of course. It'll be cheaper if you strip the old parts off first as most LBS will charge around £30-40 an hour for labour

Check your local LBS websites, most give their hourly labour charges, you're probably looking at 2-3 hours depending on what you do yourself first

Right thanks,I could do the cassette that's about it really, but will look at their pricing , I guess if I buy it from them they might do a better deal, supply and fit ,£75ish I will use as my guide price,I thought it would be more than that ,although the groupset will be costly enough, one of the shops charge individual items,ie:cassette £? Crank £? Etc,not in a rush but Ribble do sales now and then so will see what is best,:okay:

Check out You tube for 'HOW TO' videos. Study the vids then have a go. It's really not that hard to do.

Also, for good group set prices, check out Merlin Cycles. Go for Ultegra if you can. It wont make you go any faster, but it really is quality gear.

105 groupset is around £300, ultegra around £450

A work stand is needed and will cost you around £30 if you decide to DIY, then you'll need a toolkit including good cable cutters. If you'll never use the stuff again, might as well save yourself the aggro and pay to get it done

Remember to check if your wheels are 11 speed compatible too

I think the LBS did me a deal as I was doing two bikes, maybe budget £100 (or phone around)

If you buy the groupset from the bike shop and donate the old parts, I reckon you might get it fitted 'free' or for not very much.

Depends where you are in the country, @vickster lives in an expensive area and the likes of Evans charge like car main dealers.

But an independent bike shop may be more flexible.

I used an independent shop, not a chain

I can't imagine many bike shops with overheads charge much less than £30 an hour regardless of location

Think my Campagnolo Scirocco Wheels are 11 speed compatible, but will have to check

I've just swopped my brakes and gears and replaced all cables and it took me a couple of hours of work.

^^^^^^ This!

It's not that bad a job, plus if you learn to DIY it, next time you are out on a ride and a part goes t1ts up, you can at least try and fix it at the road side.
