Great movie 'moments'

It's easy to forget how ground-breaking that was, and how amazing it looked on a big screen. (reputation sadly tarnished somewhat by the crappy sequels  )
And it totally made the most of Keanu's very specific acting skills! (whilst Hugo Weaving stole almost every scene he was in.)

I still think it's one of the great sci-fi movies.

I thought the sequels were perfectly respectable and not too shabby by any means, albeit they could not really be groundbreaking in the same way. On the one hand the films are a bit pretentious and silly, and yet, each time one of them's on the telly I find myself watching it again

It really is. And it's full of great moments. The rooftop chase. The subway fight. The dojo simulation (Keanu did all that while undergoing surgery for cervical spine fusion).

And of course:

I think it is my favourite film ever. I don't think I can watch it again, though, have watched it too many times.

I couldn't agree more - amazingly The Matrix is nearly 21 years old now, but when it was released we had never seen CGI that good and it still manages to put the effects in much newer films to shame.
So good in fact that it spawned the term "bullet time" that relates to a whole genre of special effects.

Apparently Matrix 4 is due next year...

Time for the story of Dustin Hofmann turning up on the set of marathon man looking under the weather and dishevelled, so Olivier says to him "Dustin, you look terrible, are you all right?" so Hofmann, the dedicated method actor explains he's not eaten for two days and slept in the garden to get the right mind set for his scene as a hunted fugitive from the Nazis. Olivier replies "why don't you try acting dear boy, it's so much easier"
