I went private and he just asked if we were sure we really wanted this. It wasn't the third degree. It was done by a local GP in the evening who'd been recommended by my own doctor and cost £70. I went to the pub on the way home to play darts.

That's reassuring Rich. I know it's not exactly open heart surgery, but anything medical brings me out in a cold sweat....

Go for the local anaesthetic Papercorn, in and out of hospital within a couple of hours. The worst bit is when they stick that effing needle in your bollocks. After that you can chat with the nurses while the surgeon gets busy.Nowt to worry about man.

This sample then has to be dropped off at the path lab, where, if you have my experience, the prettiest girl in the department will quietly ask you what your sample is "Post-vasectomy sample" I quietly mumbled. "Sorry" she said. "Post-vasectomy sample" I quietly mumbled again. "Pardon" she says, now with a cue of oldies with all their warfarin tests behind me. "Post-vasectomy sample" I pretty much shouted. "Oh, is it fresh?" she asked looking queezy. "Surprisingly so" says I as I shuffled out:blush:

This process then has to be repeated a week or two later, and for added humiliation the pretty girl will almost certainly have a student with her:wacko:

Good luck:biggrin:

You could reply...

"I am so sorry, I couldn't produce a sample - could you help me?"

Mind you we used to get a few returned ..... often contained saliva or other substances!

I shall go no further!

as far as I understood it, it only hurts if the surgeon catches his thumbs between the bricks!

Wimps. I've had the full-scale neutering jobbie done and that's a full-scale general anaesthesia, abdominal surgery jobbie for we ladies.

That reminds me about the story about a man having his dislocated shoulder put back, and is screaming blue murder.
The doctor says to him "God man i`ve never known the like. There`s a woman next door who has just given birth to twins and she has never cried out once".
"oh aye" replies the man "try and put the bu99ers back and see what happens".

Finally going for the operation that will mean no more little papercorns bouncing about...
14th December - not looking forward to it!:cursing:

I got the two bricks last year, oh what a pleasant experience . Lying there on the slab with my hee haws out for all too see, just utter humiliation  . Can`t say the local anesthetic was any good as I found it quite painfull so maybe if your soft best going for a general . However the swelling afterwards is quite impressive, in fact wife was well pleased .

As kids my sister and I were playing up in the car singing "We want a brother or sister!" repeatedly.

My mum casually turned round and said - "You can't, your dads had a vasectomy".
That shut us up.

+1 on having the op under a local rather than general.
Of course there is some 'discomfort' involved, but I've had worse toothache tbh.
Yes, they do stick a needle in your b*lls but that's really about as 'nasty' as it gets, unless you choose to watch;).

Chuffy, if you've seriously thought it thru I'd recommend having it done.
As for becoming emasculated? Hell, being a man that takes the birth control initiative has kudos and also you're doing your bit for world population control!

I have to agree with Graham56, the injections for the local anaesthetic were the worst bit, felt exactly like someone sticking a very sharp needle into my scrotum ........ funny that .

Maggot, both my kids were born in that hospital ............
