I disagree. He's abusing people's ignorance of the road tax myth to stir up controversy.

He's a good wind up merchant.

You've been had in my opinion.

He's no idiot. He'll know exactly how the roads are paid for, and that road tax doesn't pay for roads. He's playing a part, and a very popular one at that.

And not doing too badly out of it, I warrant. If income was a measure of success (and to most, it is), he's doing a whole lot better than many, and he gets to play with fun stuff all day.

It was a joke, and I was laughing.

The thing that is insidious about it, is that scores, hudreds (even thousands maybe) of motoring cretins will be sat there thinking, "Yeah, you're right Jezza, we pay for them roads, bloody cyclists shouldn't be on 'em"

+1.

Every time JC looks on the internet to see how cyclists have reacted to his comments on cycling he smiles to himself and knows he is on a winner. He knows his appeal is based on the controversial image he portrays.

This si why i posted he is playing to the audience, the problem being a lot of the audience believe what he says and next time they see a cyclist....

He is a utter fool for using his personality that way , if i have been had its only in the way i see him as i know he plays to the gallery and it galls me that he always sinks to the lowest denominator

Clarkson is a rather dull attention-seeker. The most appropriate response to his populist idiocy is indifference.

The guy's a bit of a tool just IMHO. I never watch the program as all 3 of them get on my t1ts slightly, and looking at cars that I could never afford does not really interest me since when I was in my teens. As if a cyclist should pay tax, a bike really damages the roads like a lorry pulling a 40 foot container for example. I know it's a joke, it is just that I never find him funny.

My take? Yes he's a wind up merchant but there's people who take what he says seriously and he's fuelling anti-cyclist rhetoric and personally I feel he's putting our lives futher in danger.
