I've decided to go for it :smile::smile:, based on advice of mates and people in here it might bring along my climbing, stamina etc. And i noticed last night in the wet my feet were slipping all over the place.

i will carefully practice getting my feet in and out, but being a clumsy bastard i will inevitably pluge sideways to the hard ground like a mighty sack of potatoes

i'm aware of the technique. Is it a law of physics that all cyclists fall off the first time they use clipless?

I'm not even too concerned about injuring myself (might get lucky and need a couple of weeks off work). Whats really concerning me is that i might damage my bike in the fall.

Go for it, JR. You know it makes sense.

I've managed it (a clipless moment) a few times , it always been a slow motion thing and hurts nothing other than my pride. For the benefit I've seen from going clipless, I'll put up with that. PS touch wood so far other than a bit of scuffed bar tape I've never damaged the bike.

Ninety-nine times out of a hundred the only thing you'll dent is your pride.
Just give yourself plenty of time to unclip at junctions and lights until you're used to them and you'll be fine.

It won't be on your first ride when IT happens. It'll be a few weeks down the line when you think you've got the hang of this clipless malarky.

You're over-thinking it and making it too much of an issue. I bet you find it simpler than you reckon it's going to be when you get round to doing it.

As I have said many times, in a couple of weeks you be 'unclipping' when cycling in trainers on flat pedals. The automatic action becomes so ingrained and habitual.

Few weeks back, I got a text from my sister, it said, "D has got a new bike, new cleats and a new broken elbow"....

Actually, it wasn't broken in the end, just badly bruised. I asked if ti was a clipless moment, and she replied she didn't know what that was, but the stabilisers were going back on... (and yes, it was a clipless moment...)

I've never had a clipless moment, but then I only have them on my trike, and it's really hard to fall off one of those, even clipped in at a standstill...

had two 'moments'...unfortunately one of them was at a set of traffic lights in front of a car full of chavs...those little ba$tards made my suffer.!!!!..
..as others have said, usually your pride suffers more than skin & bone (and bike)...
