If your happy wearing a combination of both thats up to you.
I've a couple of base layer's that are sleeveless, they are perfect for me for spring/summer/autumn.Sleeveless baselayer?
I have a very slight sense that you might be new at this game, not sure how I come to think that, after all I see lots ofRight I went out today
I don't do cold well and had a cheap mountain active t shirt type base layer, long sleeve jersey, gore bike wear phantom jacket which probably would have been adequate but I ignored some of the above comments and put a gilet on top. Overall had good movement, didn't sweat and kept warm
Newbie to it all so don't have all the gear and had normal sports shorts, so legs were cold to start with but felt fine on the 12 mile ride. Going for bib shorts and leg warmer combo though
Other part that was cold to start with was my ears but was ok after a mile
Who gives a shoot? I do it and it works a treat. Allows me to carry 2 very light and readily stowable layers that give good flexibility on variable days. The real answer is neither!
A gilet over a jacket? Never heard anything so ridiculous!
I tend to swap Gilet for jacket first and then if It gets colder add the Gilet over the top. I guess it depends on the relative merits and breathability of both particular clothing items.2251162 said:If the temperature is such that the gilet is sufficient but it might rain, get colder, you want to warm up first, then jacket over gilet. If it is definitely cold enough for the jacket but you might want more, other way around.
You'd be a prat to wear a gilet over waterproof unless it was a waterproof gilet
If that's not an Ironic question ....What's a gilet
