£50 is really very low, have a good look around the bike taking a close look at the chain, wheel hubs, stem etc. looking for signs of rust=neglect, marks on the frame wear the bike has just been through against walls, on the floor, spin the wheels to see that there spin freely and are true.

If at this stage you are happy, take it for a ride. Although you can adjust the seat height the bike will need to feel right, remembering that a short ride will not be a true reflection of a few hours in the saddle.

While on the test ride, use the gears to make sure they change smoothly and quickly.

As a side note, if you feel the bike is in good order and fits make the guy an offer, you may get a further £10-£20 off.

Thankyou, sorry about my inpatience, it is one of my faults i must admit.
And thanx for the avice, i will see what happens.
I would like to put a computer on straight away so i know how far i go on it :sad:
