Giant PR2 wheel upgrade (£300 budget)

I emailed a few companies for advice/reccomendations and a price for a wheel set build, I realise it was Easter Friday when I emailed and they may have been closed all weekend but a few haven’t replied at all, most notably The CycleClinic and DCR Wheels….

Maybe they are just busy or am I likely not going to get a reply?
Anyone with any experience?

Finally got in touch with David at DCR wheels, very nice guy and knowledgeable

I’m 75 kg and he was suggesting I can go 24 spoke but I think I prefer a little more strength and go 28. I’m pretty much decided on my set up, which is a follows.


Bitex BX201FG front hub
Bitex MTR12, rear hub
Rim - Kinlin XR-26rt(s), 28h, asymmetrical
Build/spokes - Sapim D-light, black, 2x throughout, black alloy 2 double square nipples
Rim tape - Tubeless yellow, double layer

Not purchased yet but think I’m going to

Not sure yet,he quoted me for 24h spokes but I want to go with 28h so waiting on a reply.

Spokes are £1-2 each tops so should only be maybe £10 more? Build time/labour should be the same.
