I have a Defy 3 in m/l size, I'm 5'10 and find it very comfy, it's a fantastic bike, only thing is the oem rear tyre has started to split after about 400 miles, however I have some continental GP2000S 2's to fit on it this weekend, if you can get the size, go for it, you won't regret it. :okay:

It doesn't look like the 2015 Defy 5 has the PR3 tyres you cite in your other thread but the presumably cheaper SR-4

Daft as it sounds they maybe a bit harder wearing, however, it's a bike that I think is a keeper, and is worth a few upgrades, I love mine regardless of the tyre problem.

I think the 5 misses the carbon fork of the others in the range, jury's out on whether that is needed or not. I wouldn't be without myself but I have dodgy limbs!

The 5 has been dropped from the 2016 range  Its a cracking bike though .

Carbon fork starts on the Defy 4, both are 16 speed claris its listed at £76 more than the 5.
I'd certainly pay the extra, others wouldn't. It'll be easier to sell on once upgraditis inevitably sets in with a carbon fork IMO

I would go for the highest spec you can. There are some good deals around at the moment with the 2016 bikes coming out. The carbon fork IMHO seems to make the bike more comfortable somehow.

Hi all,

Not so much related to this thread but in the end I went for a Defy 4 2015 model in M/L but after receiving the new bike this week from the shop I noticed the rear wheel seems to be very near to the chain stay on one side and a big gap on the other side but when u look at the wheel and compare to the seat post it looks ok. The shop might be having the bike back to change or sort

My main question is as most of you on this thread have a defy. How does your rear wheel look like when you look at the chain stays. Does it have equal distance each side or off center from the stays.

Have re seated the wheel in the drop outs many times and the wheel always go's back to that postion

Chris

I have a 2014 Defy and I am 99% certain it does not look like that. In fact, I fitted mudguards and if the wheel was aligned like that, they would rub horrendously. I will take a look tonight for you to double check. Are you sure you have the wheel sitting in the dropouts correctly?
