Yep looks so, can you post a picture of the sole

However, do be aware that you'll need to be very careful walking on any sort of cleat on those shoes, especially a hard slippy surface

They seem to be the old-fashioned Look type pedal, Deltas - the ones before Look Keos. I had them on my bikes before I switched to mountain bike type SPDs (the M520s mentioned by vickster). The Deltas are great once you are clipped in, but I did have a couple of near-misses with them when my second foot slipped off the pedal. The last straw for me was an emergency dismount on a 25% climb and then the cleat slipped on the steep road surface.

If you never go near steep hills, then I'd say stick with them. If you ever find yourself having to get off and walk, DON'T! The problem with switching to SPDs would then be the fact that those shoes are not really suited to them. You'd want the type with recesses for the cleats, as also mentioned above.

Well, if you swap to SPD pedals, you'll be slipping with metal cleats instead of plastic. I'll leave to your imagination what you might do to the floor in that circumstance :stop::wacko::eek:

@si_c Not necessarily so, there are shoes (e.g Shimano R078) that will take both two and three bolt cleats, you'll still skid around like a crazy thing though as there is no recess
Yup, as the OP seems to have. I made an assumption based on most shoes not being that way; probability,it's an inexact science .

Don't bother with double sided pedals just keep going out on them, I had soooo many issues with them, I fell off over 20 times. Persevered and have now taught myself to clip in without looking.

Make sure the shoe is comfortable when in and cycling, but you'll be fine. If I can manage it, anyone can!

I have never come out of an M520 pedal unintentionally even with the loosest setting (I don't get on with the multi release cleats though being used to the SH51s)

Have a look at the link above, I bought some of these for my winter bike as my best bike is fitted with Look Keo's, because the front part of the pedal is wider than the Looks they are easier to clip into, you can adjust the tension and they are supplied with cleats.
The bearings did seem a little notchy at first, but after only 7 miles they were spinning smoothly and they are also compatible with Look Keo cleats.

I had the same problem as you with the Looks not sitting in the right position all the time. The solution buy heavier Shimano SPD-SL pedals with better weight distribution.

Also sounds silly but are the cleats in the same position on each shoe, if one is slightly different it could be the cause of your problem?

I have changed around the fitting of the cleat and it doesn't really help at all. Think I might have a trip down to the lbs to get a set of new pedals

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
Just a thought ...... have you lubricated the pivot points on the pedal - and the springs?
