Knowing my luck, I'm expecting the Winter Fuel Allowance to be abolished when I am 59 and 364 days old. That and retirement age to be moved to 83.

Sadly by the time I reach retirement age, they will probably have put it up to 106.

I would retire now if I could.

Hmmmm. Only 6 years for me, can I spend it on bike accessories? After all, riding a bike keeps you warm....

I'm only jealous, but I think winter fuel allowance should be means tested

Trouble with means testing is it would spend more than £250 per person in administrator's and inspector's costs to check each application... bit like means tested child benefit!

I think they should reduce the entry level to 51 years and 4 months... as from tomorrow.

I'm not so sure... Plus 8 degrees from the effort of pedalling, minus 10 degrees for the low air temperature and minus another 10 degrees for the Siberian wind chill!

Colin- you're making the assumption that the cycling is being done outside! ...rather than connected by generator to the kettle.
