The wickes glasses look good for the price. I'm sure these are the ones Spinney has. Aldi & Lidl ones look good when they are out.

Years ago I was coming back from Bridlington, coming down Market Weighton Hill when got a fly in my eye. The pain was such that I couldn't work out which eye it was in and shut both eyes and braked. God knows how I stayed on the tarmac and upright  .

I now need glasses just to see any further than 6 foot ahead clearly and have a pair of Wind Rams with my prescription in. Came to £100

I bought these specs a few weeks ago after a tip off from someone on here. Really pleased with them and they also look the part.

Must have read the same tip, I got a pair from Screw fix (£7.99) and they are the biz. Also got the Aldi ones with the interchangable lens almost as good.

Out of interest, guitarpete, how heavy is your prescription? I'm blind as a bat, which has always put prescription sports glasses out of my reach, but with all this speak of bugs in the eyes I might look into a set of those windrams too.

Fairings are equally good!

There is a distinctive sound as a large insect bounces off the lexan.

I tend to wear glasses all year round as when it's not bugs then streaming eyes in the cold winter winds aren't brilliant either.

Another set of cheap and reasonably effective glasses are these in Argos. Not polycarbonate safety lenses but mine took a decent whack at 20+mph when i had a crash and survived ok.

They come with three sets of lenses, clear, yellow and grey.

Otherwise I've just bought some new ones from Decathlon which are pretty good and are more substantial lenses I think they were 10 with a set of clear and dark grey lenses.

I lucked out. I have to wear glasses anyway! xD I can't tell you the number of times they've saved my eyeball from something unsavory dropping in. xD

I wear a pair of ballistic glasses designed for airsoft - can't remember what website I got them from by they were only a fiver or so, and if they are strong enough to easily resist plastic pellets coming straight at you at 500 feet per second then I'm sure they are good enough against insects and grit!
