I've never understood cover bands. How does it work with things like copyright, permission, and royalties?

they pay a percentage of their earnings... or are supposed to. The big tribute acts will be all above board, the little cover band in a pub will more likely be winging it.

Whilst no way the sort of music I like; Adele has an amazing voice, she sung one of her songs without any backing music, on I think Jools Holland and it was just amazing. Best female vocalist since Karen Carpenter.

Female-led pop is my preferred genre but I tend to swerve the ‘obvious’ or hyped ones. Whitney… I get it but, not my thing. Adele - same. Annie Lennox… now we’re talking. And much as I don’t want to, I can’t help liking Jess Glynne.

Oh, it's Adele, from the title of the thread I thought it was something dreadful like Jazz....

Is that where people pay to hear musicians playing with for themselves, and now and again they come up with something half decent?

Her two previous albums were good, but they did have some outstanding, really strong songs on them. From what I've heard of this latest single it's very samey with nothing special to hang on to. I believe all songwriters have a bucketful of good songs they come up with before running out of inspiration and running into the law of diminishing returns.

She has not done that many songs in her lifetime so she has time and I hope, and trust, the rest of this album is better than this song.

Compared to many singers today she has a really good voice, but no female comes close to Dusty Springfield.

Just listened to Adele's new track. It's ok. I don't think you can knock her voice. It's a matter of taste. Some people don't like Bob Dylan as a singer, but his voice certainly suits his music.

And it's getting popular already so best of luck to her really

Had a few Jefferson Starship albums back in the day . These led me to the first incarantion of the band ie Jefferson Airplane . I was still in shorts then . Long standing fan of Grace Slicks voice .
