Has anyone been asked any questions while searching for a cache?

There was a guy poking around the wall which marks the precincts of Durham Crown Court.

The security guard came out and had a friendly word.

A while later I saw someone else poking around on the other side of the road, presumably looking for the same thing.
Yes today I parked up my trike on a country lane and started looking for the cache a car pulled next to my trike, I walked up to him and asked if anything was wrong he replied “I'm looking for somewhere to have a pee what are you doing” I replied studying entomology

A quick dash for the cache today, while I was out something bit me on the back of my knee now I have a big lump now

Wasn't a Pokemon was it?

Just found this one it was a “special branch” someone had cut the branch and bored it out to take the tube

There are some very clever ones - fake bolts, fake rocks, pinecones; one of our local cache setting teams (WooandBird) do some seriously devious ones. All good harmless fun.

We have a fake rock one outside our back gate, we very much enjoy the Church Micros too.

I made three visits to a local cache down a country lane and couldn't find the treasure that was supposed to be on a bridge over a brook. However on the first two visits I did get annoyed because some idiot had left an old bike lock attached to the bridge rail..... when the penny finally dropped the third visit was successful.

I just found this after three attempts …..... 10 foot up a tree the clue was hug a tree
Did you climb it or take a ladder?

I did it for a while. I even bought a geocaching coin which ended up in a cache in a remote place in Sweden, before it was stolen. I was trying to get it to North Cape. It put me off and I never took it up again. I should.

I thought I’d resurrect this thread to see if anyone else is still geocaching.

We‘ve been a bit lax in the last twelve months, but have made more of an effort to go out caching recently. There’s a stretch of canal near us which has lots of caches so two weeks ago we did the first 5km finding 9 caches, and then yesterday we did the remaining 5km finding 12. There are still another 3 caches to find at one end so that will keep us busy on another day. There were too many ‘muggles’ as my daughter calls them (non-geocaching folk) making it hard to be stealthy.

At the end of our walk, we met the chap who had created the majority of the caches. A lovely chap, he was telling us he has about 150 caches which he has created and maintains in the region - which I know to be true as I’ve seen most of his caches on the map (and we‘ve found about 50 of them). Some he took over after their creator passed away. Any issues finding his caches and he’d be happy to give us a hint or two.

With a spare hour today, I went out and found a single cache a little over a mile away. My intention was to find a second, however, a hawthorn hedge stopped me from getting to what was I’m sure the correct hiding place. I’ll go back once the hedge has been cut (not on the bike!).
