Colleges sometimes have entire days/half days off as they have a more sophisticated timetable to fit in with work commitments and the part time nature of some of their lecturers. This is becoming less common as people are taking more and more A-levels.

I got an A in that, but not being at school makes me sound not clever and write very badly!

PS make sure you get lots of practical experience - i.e. help out the old man with DIY as you'll soon be wanting your own home, and having to 'get someone' every time a bulb blows is a pain......
