I have looked into these, I really want something that acts like tom tom, but I can put a route into it and follow where it tells me like the tom tom to turn off in xyz, does the 500 & 800 do that?

Yes. If you use something like ridewithgps.com, the 500 will do turn-by-turn directions with an arrow and warning beep. It works very well.

Took my 800 out today for first run. Was good to see all data in front of me, stopped a couple of times to change what I wanted to see on screen. Didnt take hr out, but cadence was good to see, as speeds seemed consistent with what strava told me before. Few miles difference between what it said I did and strava, was 51 miles on Garmin and 53 on strava. Not concerned though. Garmin said 2500 calories, against 1500 on strava, so I'm taking Garmin on that oe so I can pig out tonight!

Made a decision yesterday and after reading a review of the 510, I went for the 800 from Amazon. They offered me a free Prime trail as well so it would have been rude not to take them up on it . It's sitting on my desk at the moment

So, maps, did someone mention an opensource map?

Don't forget to cancel it - I know someone who got stung when they forgot to do that.

What's the free Prime Trial?...i've just ordered a 800 from Amazon
It's were you can get free express delivery on eligable items. I think you have to be offered it though rather than just signing up. It was one of the delivery options, something like "Express delivery with one month free Prime trial". It's normally something like £40/£50 a year.

I won't. The last one I had I remembered on the very last day.

Took the new 800 for it's first outing on Saturday and really liked it.

Although my legs begged to differ when it told me I was going up a 14% hill
