Thought I would do some climb training. Had my route planned and such, didn't expect to encounter a 15-18% gradient. Still I managed it in a decent time.

how do you know the gradient %? Does the Garmin Connect show it?

The Garmin Edge 605 shows it. I also believe the Edge 500, 705 and 800 also show it.

Feel free to share your rides on here. I was looking at the 500 but I wanted a more detailed navigator with a colour map and screen. They are the same in every other area though I believe.
Also, once you start proper rides and analysing them you will wonder what you ever did without one. I've only had my 605 since Friday and I love it.
Did you get a map package with yours? Or did you buy one seperate? I got the GB TOPO V2 with OS road maps with mine.
I love checking the gradient whenever I'm climbing...that feature alone is worth like 50 quid...might just justify the price for 705!

Nice, kinda puts me to shame hehe. I know the 705 has an barometric altimeter which is more accurate than mine. Nice pace you got there for such a long ride.

I see, if you do decide to get a map then get City Navigator if your device can use it. GB TOPO Is like £149.99, I am lucky as I got it free with the 605.

Thought Id have a go at some climbing as well 31 deg heat hmmm lovely and sweaty check out the 40 percent gradient wrong turn!!
