Garmin 800

i have an 800 and love it, not used it to its full potential yet, can do 4 hour rides and the battery only goes down to around 75%

Is that with the backlight on?

You realise the backlight can be turned down right?

Press the power button once. You can also turn off/on ANT+ devices and lock the screen

normally off, when i ride in the dark i alter the setting so the back light will stay on for 30 seconds after touching or at each lap set, was 1 mile now 5 miles

Turn it down to 15 second or whatever the lowest is. If your doing navigation. When u come to a turning or instruction it will let you know

And the chances are, that notification will be "off Course", the 800 is not reliable enough to give you 100% TBT instructions, the only foolproof way is to, when approaching a junction etc, always check the map page on the 800 to check whether there is a turning or not.
