Thinking the same as @welsh dragon and @Heltor Chasca make a great bog garden.
Or how about a wild flower meadow that's easy , quick and look great from the house. Plenty of seed mixers about so can get the right mix of plants or if your happy to spend a bit use wildflower turf

Have seriously thought of that. Local council have done lots of it and they look nice.
But they dont seem to flower very long do they.

All down to the right mix should get April to September plenty of info about. Mix in a few ornamental grassers to give interest as flowers fade.
Prairie planting is another idea that should help extend things a bit.

A nice rockery would work, especially with all them shrubs.
Cost a bit for boulders - rocks and some nice slate or welsh green or granite.

Its likely to settle so a patio will be level for a while unless you get a really good base

Are you saying you brought it up level with the garden or left it sunken ?
