To recap, you're looking for a part of Britain which the railways didn't reach. This narrows down the search areas a lot.

A clue to the name of a nearby "thing" is a bit of an upstream odyssey, which I was kind enough to tell you is 4 letters long.

Upstream odyssey gives the four-letter name of the nearby farm and also the distinctive hill on the left with the trees on top. I'd tried to make the clue with ultra-modern but couldn't make it read remotely sensibly.

Amod Hill is an anagram of Damon Hill minus the N.

As for the picture itself, the look is too gentle for the far north-west. I think Kintyre must be one of the largest remaining areas never penetrated by the railways, and I've used images from there before.
