One of the guys rode an entry level Boardman, and the other guy rode a 2008 Focus Cayo.

I saw this filmed at the Tour of Britain London stage. The guy in the glasses is a cyclist and he told me he got to keep the bikes!

Jason (the one with glasses) was pretty knowledgable about bikes when I was at some Gadget Show filming in October. They wouldn't have given him cleats if he couldn't ride, so by rights he should have creamed Dallas from the off with that setup. It wouldn't have made as "interesting" TV to the producer though if he had belted off.

He had a good cadence but his cornering didn't look as confident as a regular cyclist.

Anybody spot the continuity error with the helmets?

I thought he looked a lilttle unsure on the cleats - it seemed weird to me that he started off with both feet clipped in holding on to an advertising hoarding to prevent himself falling over. Perhaps that's what the professionals do but I would have thought that with double-sided pedals you'd get a more better start pushing of with one foot on the ground and one clipped in, clipping in as you bring the other foot up to the pedal.

Out of interest, how long was that course that they were riding?

The clipless guy was riding with ultegra spd-sl's (single sided) and northwave vertigo's I believe, which is exactly the same set-up as I have.

So if I manage to overtake someone on a Carbon Willier at the weekend while I'm riding my winter hackbike with mudguards, that makes my bike faster and/or better?

Yes.

Matey does do cycling, but he does downhill mountain biking iirc. ;)
