Furniture impressions/depressions in carpets

Never had any 100% success rate with any method. We've found the various 'remedies' work ok-ish with lightweight items but anything really heavy that has been in-situ for a number of years is their to stay.

We have some very heavy sofas and we occasionally move them to clean underneath and the carpet & underlay is crushed flat where the feet have been and nothing will sort it out - we asked the carper cleaner person if he could do anything and he said not a chance.

The underlay doesn't recover very well with some types so you always see a depression.
Some underlay is better than others.

I was going to suggest some sort of distraction..... Lying next to the dents in a Burt Reynolds pose perhaps?
