That is more of an issue for thin camping cookwear.

Up to a point, thicker makes up for conductivity, but at least the light weight is a benefit for camping.
I had a very thick and seemingly high quality stainless frying pan but it was crap, presumably because of poor conductivity.
I've never used titianium to be fair, but the conductivity issue is similar

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
You need different pans for different things. Small pans heat up quickly and are great for eggs, bacon and steak for this reason. Bigger frying pans are good for braising, browning and for doing things like chilli, and shepards pie before its topped with potatoe and put into the oven bigger pans don't heat up as well as smaller pans.

ive had expensive and cheap pans and to be honest none of them were any good. Some non stick ones weren't, others with lifetime guarantees didn't last more than a couple of years.

cast iron are great if you have muscles like popeye, but for women forget it.

personally I'd buy cheap small pans for eggs steak, bacon, large non stick tefal aren't bad for things that need slow cooking, or cooking over longer periods of time.

BIT pricey .............I would need to do a LOT of cooking to justify that. Thank you for the link.

weeellll, over a lifetime you will do a lot of cooking .... and if you think le creuset are pricy, don't go here - http://www.falkculinair.co.uk/copper-cookware/catalogue

They are fantastic, but you need to wait till there's a deal on for the thing you're actually after, though still pretty expensive even then.
No point for just boiling spuds though, when any old pan will be fine.

I think the Maueviel ones are even more - and they're thinner - so presumably not as good.

My Bourgeat aluminium one was very reasonably priced

I didn't buy it there, but it's a bit like that one - mine's a higher-sided saute pan rather than a frying pan.

We have a couple of tefal frying pans
A stand up comedian I once saw quipped "I'm gonna do one of those TEFL courses... Teaching English as a non stick frying pan"
My wife dislikes cast iron pans because of the weight, but she will use them if it's me that's doing the washing up. I wouldn't do steak on a thin pan, though, I think it's much better on a searing hot cast iron pan or griddle, if you like the cheffy lines.
I do have a cast iron griddle with a handle on it that I use for scones, welsh cakes. And it's bloody heavy.
