I was planning a cycle ride after Christmas lunch when my ex and boys have left. My ex in laws have now invited me over for tea and cake, it would be nice to go and I could cycle there so added incentive to get back on the bike after a long break. Coming home it would be dark and we have no street lights, I haven't done no street light dark cycling before what sort of front light would I need. I have some basic lights but am guessing that wouldn't be strong enough. I don't want to spend a fortune as won't get that much use out of the light.

I like the Smart 3led front and 5led rear £25.99 for the set

but it all depends on what roads you are going to be on and how much you wish to see?

country roads some residential some not actually I may find it a bit spooky as haven't cycled at night in years.

I didn't think to check the lights I do have outside before posting thread. It's a powerbeam 3 led and seems pretty good in my pitch black garden. I have two so guess I could try it with those one on handlebars and one set lower - do you think?

They sound ok but I would put both of them on the handlebars

Mine shouldn't be - I got my Dad to help me set them up - they are not as set as far out as that shot and so are pointed more downwards - used them quite a bit and no-one has ever flashed me for them.

wow that's impressive. I think a trial run is called for, will fix on bike tomorrow and have a little test drive.
