The mudgaurd on my commuter does not have anything to protect the FD , well it did have years ago but it always rubbed as i could never get it to sit right with the dropped seat stay design and due to mount issues i have to use clip on gaurds .
Has anyone any thoughts on a diy bodge job to make a piece that will stop the crap off the rear wheel ?

Cable tie around the seat tube, fixing a piece of soft plastic to cover the FD?

I have a flap of gaffa tape where my guard has a cut out for the FD, so the FD can push it out of the way if I need the granny gear, but the flap protects the FD from all the crud.

What size tyres? If they're up to 25mm what about a Crud Roadracer MK2 rear nose (if you can find them Crud are out of stock a.t.m. https://www.crudproducts.com/product/roadracer-mk2-rear-nose-tail-kit/)

well tried some £12 plastic gaurds from halfords that seemed to have the clearance but there was not enough room under the guard where the attachment for the seat stay bridge was was so i ended up using a butchered ass saver as per the link above .
I have probably cut it a bit short but for £3 i can soon get another if it doesn’t work

Could the ‘ass-saver’ be fitted upside down for more coverage at the derailleur? Could a gaiter cut from an old inner tube be fitted to the derailleur itself?
Fingers crossed it works, any way :-)

I have 28mm tyres on a bike designed for 23mm and having a rear mud guard is nigh on impossible - I had to design and 3D print the entire thing, and the area around the front derailleur was just impossible other than a piece of rubber that can flex with the movement of the derailleur
It works very well but the rubber I am using (pond rubber for its tear resistance) seems to stretch and go out of shape, which means fitting a new bit every month
