Never heard of a forumite called Shirley...

Good evening out last night - 2 lots of leaving drinks in the same evening so just as well I paced myself as was up at 5.45 to turn around and come back in. Probably should have done it the old fashioned way and slept under the desk in the office to save on commuting time.

Had a few calls to get through this morning, including on to our South African lot and for some reason couldn't get that old Spitting Image song out of my head. They did comment on me looking quite amused 😇 Anyhow, got my delayed PSA test this afternoon, couldn't get it done last week in the annual MOT so had to come back again. Good excuse for a bit of fresh air after lunch.

Yep.

Sungod has gout.
TLW has been bashed proper by Mrs TLW finally.
Stevo is trying (in vain) to bash lefties.
Photonic and 'Loon are just a bit bashed up.
Vincesummerrockshocks is a bit bashed up too as he went out for a meal and one can only presume hangover + food poisoning.
HD is too busy trying to bash errant staff.
VN is on the corporate bashing wheel.

So SG is the only one not involved with bashing.

Anyhoo - Morning

Sunny but cool and windy.

Coffee is gone but there are plans afoot to go to the café in the sticks.
No shiny bits in the post yesterday. Cross fingers.

didn't ride early as all the forecasts said it was about to rain, there was no rain

much coffee, did a security reference for someone, bit of wfh, had some chocs, sun is peeking through so taking new watch for a stroll next

The Bulgari?

Day of not driving about as much. We did have to go to the shops but for once I had the luxury of sitting and watching the scenery go by. Glorious roof-down weather too. Our new solar panels system agreed - over 90 kWh generated today.

Much faffing in shed with trainer bike. The old Cervelo has been a bit creaky of late, so swapped the drivetrain over to an aluminium 'Dale frame today and will give it a decent trial tomorrow.

yes, incredibly thin especially for an automatic, for a really light watch it comes in an amazingly heavy metal presentation box

unfortunately the iridescence doesn't show in pics, looks much better 'live'

Afternoon folks,
Happy POETS day, a little more than an hour to go until the weekend. I had a mild hangover this morning after another leaving do for someone from the old place, things are going from bad to worse there. Everyone there said i was right to jump when I did which is reassuring. Seems a few are hoping to get redundancy, not worth taking the chance for me.
Got to collect the old dear from Heathrow tomorrow, I’m sure there will be other jobs for me to do over the weekend.

Vulgari...

What's wrong with an elegant British watch or an antique aviator watch?

Each to their own, Mr. P. When you say British watches, what do you have in mind?

SG's choice isn't up my street, but that doesn't matter as long as he's happy with it. I'm supporting Swiss industry today...

I am recovering, a certain amount of beer and red wine was imbibed....no food poisoning thankfully. Currently changing some curtains which of course becomes a longer job and the screws and wall plugs are pulling out of the wall and need upgraded.... will be bashing new wall plugs in...

I would recommend Fischer Duopower wall plugs. They are excellent, have got me out of a pickle more than once now. I currently have a curtain hanging up with 2 x halves in the wall and they're solid. I could not get a drill bit through the steel RSJ so I only had half a wall plug depth of plasterboard and it's been holding fine for 6 months

Thanks, I used whatever bigger wall plugs in had and bigger screws, should be fine. I think they were fitted by someone who installed the curtains, original ones way too small.

why the hate for bulgari? aside from the artistry and quality of their products, their initiatives in education, diversity, patronage, philanthropy, charity etc. imo makes them a pretty good company, the world could do with more of that

already have my old breitling

obviously style is a personal matter, but i've never seen a british watch i'd call elegant, most are uninspiring/derivative, then there're the steampunk-like monstrosities, yes rw smith is obviously a great watchmaker, but his stying bores me

I'll stick with my seiko as it's understated and not in your face like some. Not keen on large bulky garish watches.

there's a very pretty iwc ti ingenieur i'm tempted by...

Life is short...

I think that I know the one you mean. Had a steel Ingenieur a good few years ago, in the end I was a bit heavy (and top heavy), so sold it. Ti is the way forward, I am a fan of it as a watch material - not just weight but the look also, less shiny bling.
