did the recce today - nothing much to worry about except one mahoosive hole just west of Sittingbourne. I'm going to tweak it a bit

- we're going to give Erith a miss. It's not a nice place.
- the new road west of Swanscombe is open, and we'll use it maybe just this once
- if the weather is fine we'll take the frog route west of Gravesend - which will make User10571 very happy

east! The path is in really good condition. The Sustrans gates are silly, but.........we've simplified the route so much that, puncture ghastliness aside, there should be time.

I rode it towards the end of last year, and was surprised by how much things had improved now that the dust gravel had settled.

Dellers: I thought that I sent a withdraw message some time ago; if not here it is. Alternatively on yr posting above maybe Geoff S is someone else.

May the wind be on your backs and the rain somewhere else.

There's every chance that by the end of May it'll no longer be the frog route, anyway....
The frogs are very seasonal.

I'm intrigued by the possible route variations. Will this mean we go over Shooters Hill to skip Erith, do we ride under Ebbsfleet station, and are we going to ride along the Thames and Medway Canal after Gravesend?

I wouldn't have thought so less a mass puncture repair session afterwards...

Don't tell us the route keep it a secret. The last time I rode up Shooters Hill was in 1973 on a Dawes Kingpin.

The surface has improved considerably, by comparison to the unridable state it was in immediately after it had been re-surfaced.
