If you do fit them...
You might well want to have a word with your LBS regards cleat position. If you don't, at least read up on it so you can (hopefully) get that right...
1. Put the bike in a doorway or where you can lean against a wall, and practice clipping in and out repeatedly, until you feel comfortable. Set the release tension fairly low, I'd say!
2. Go somewhere quiet (deserted car park etc) for your first ride with them.
3. Don't panic

Just found out my next door neighbour is doing the ride. She's just taken her bike to the lbs to get it serviced. She's very excited about it and suitably forewarned about Reigate Hill and Slugwash Lane.
she'll doubtless be impressed by the sobersided gentleman at the top of Slugwash Lane. I just hope that she's not overwhelmed by the Reigate Hill Squad.
