Posting this reminded me of an old work colleague, and still a friend, who was a bit of a doc-botherer and concerned about his drinking (not excessive, in my opinion!).
I sang "Ole man's liver" to him once, and he responded indignantly that he'd been dry for 16 days. I'm proud to report that I immediately responded with:
You're dry sixteen days and what do you get
Your liver gets better when you're not wet
So barmaid don't you call me cos I can't go
Doctor says I gotta say no
Edited again due to age-related* memory loss: last line should read:
Promised doctor that I'd say no
* and possibly due to my excessive consumption of alcohol in the last 20 or so years. Sorry!
Doctor wasn't insistent; my friend possibly misinterpreted his advice as orders.
