. Interestingly I've just sent a pair of Altura's back because ... you've guessed it ... the zip broke, after only a handful of outings. Hopefully these are better!
Yes some i got from aldi or lidl bust after 2 uses - should have taken them back but never got round to it. The zips were akin to something you would get on a light piece of clothing like a lightweight windblocking top. You need serious quality zips on overshoes - generally i favour velcro - don't care how i look. Please report back.

Planetx have got a 'stock liquidation' sale on, several discounted products and a code plastered all over the site (PXPPP40) for 40% off as well, I just ordered some light weight overshoes and leg warmers listed for about £70 normally, paid £25 Inc postage

I intend to check it out (i get mailing from them) but overshoes and leg warmers originally cost £70? Surely some yorkshire mistake?

Hmmm ... the reviews on the site don't look too encouraging, although looking around the interweb others seem more favourable. Seems like a lot of the complaints are over the sizing. Glad I only dropped a tenner on them!
Yes they did look rather tight - i noted what appeared to be a ratchet fastening bulging through. Maybe appeal to italians who go for the super skinny cycling look. You can always return them unused - thanks anyway for original post and follow up.

Heh, I'm not going to say they would be worth the full price but that's what planetx had them listed as. The overshoes were meant to be £45 apparently
The 105 Derailleur was actually cheaper before the liquidation sale. They went up about £1.50 take home for every 10% off they added!
That said, I buy these for £10 happily http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/GLPXHWG/planet-x-hybrid-weather-glove and they are now £6 and the Phaart rear LEDs are pretty good.

A carbon frame isn't necessarily lighter than an alu/carbon one

Looks better than a triban though ;)

In my eyes. Theres no point to buying a full carbon bike if the weight saving doesnt come along with it.

With that said though it could be the wheels and/or the components themselves on the bike that's weighing it down

at 9.35Kg
This makes me quite sympathetic to Giant never giving the weight. It's 3 significant figures for a bike that comes in 52 to 58cm sizes. That last digit is 10 gramme units. If you care about 10g, you should make sure you spit before getting on your bike.
(not blaming @RoubaixCube for this, though he did add 30g to the weight - I only saw 9.32kg - which is a massive 1 1/2 tablespoons of water.)

by all means take a dig at me for saying if i was to buy a carbon bike It should be lighter then an alu/carbon forked bike.

Id rather not waste my money, but if you have money to spend to make a project out of it buy upgrading everything then more power to you. maybe you might get sub 9kg

I wasn't taking a dig at you. I almost always have my carradice barley and SQR mount attached to bike, which is about a kg empty. So no point shaving 200g off the bike. Plus I've just put on a lot of weight , so the weight of my bike is never the problem.

Whilst you're digging that hole you seem intent on putting yourself in, here's an article that you might want to read before ploughing on: http://road.cc/content/feature/174753-11-best-2016-aluminium-road-bikes .
