Well done......so will that be the 500 for you and your o/h will get the 200?

It will be interesting if you both go out on the same ride to compare. I am curious re the elevation readings since I think the 500 has the altimeter thingy doesn't it?

Yes Carrie will get my 200 apparently it does have a altimeter thingy looking forward to it

Does anyone know if the Varium jackets are still being sold? Emailed the guy yesterday. No response.
His facebook page a couple of weeks ago said they were suspending online order of the variums until New Year in order to ensure delivery. Comment made on 23 Dec said they still had them in stock.

Garmin Edge 500 currently £90 (down from £170) on Amazon on the lightning deals- until 10pm only and half of them have sold in 13 minutes so you may have to be quick.
Can't link as you need to add to basket from the deals list.
Cheers, but I'm after the mapping, really. Plus I missed that deal too, 'cos I went out for a ride!

Join the club- I didn't get the 500- just wanted to make sure people knew about it. Garmin did 30% off in their shop for a few days in Dec, hoping they'll do similar at some point to get the Edge Touring, no sign of it yet though!

I bit the bullet and went for my own deal, the Edge 800, I didn't need it since my Edge 200 did everything I thought I needed! I now need to get rid of my 200, I only bought it a few months ago.

Just been delivered - looks a very well built light. What are all the modes? cant really work out the guide which comes with it????
thanks
Sussed the modes out today - paid it a little more attention.
When the light is off, hold down the switch (only half cover it because you need to see the colour the switch flashes...). Wait for it to do the 5 very fast flashes, and carry on holding the switch down. you will get 3 red flashes (slow flashes), 3 green ones and then 3 more red ones if you let it cycle through all of the modes.
Where you let go of the switch is the program you get... so if you let go after 3 red flashes and 2 green flashes, you will have mode 5 which gives you 3 hours on high and 10 hours in medium with no 'low' setting. If you let go after the first red flash, you will be in Mode 1 which gives you a run time of 2 hours in 'high' mode, 6 hours run time in medium mode and 12 hours in low mode. You enter the modes once the light is on, but pressing the switch once briefly again - so you can dim it for oncoming vehicles when cycling on unlit lanes at night etc. Hope that helps - if not PM me and I will try to explain it more clearly...
