The 605 is the same as the 705 but without Cadence and HR. I have a 705 and that's a bargain price! I had a 605 before but it developed issues when water got inside once

seriously tempted to get one of these oif there's any left on Friday (pay day)

any reason why I shouldn't? ie *that* much worse than the 800?

Wow, it was £350 when new! £99 seems like an insanely good deal. I currently have a Holux but navigation would be very useful indeed.

Here's the Bike Radar review http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/categ...-devices/product/review-garmin-edge-705-31875

I'll be looking for info on battery life and accuracy, I'll report back.

My only criticism of the 605/705 is that the screen might be a bit larger and the graphics aren't exactly top-notch. Great all-rounder device. Ad-hoc mapping/ routing isn't as nice as you may be used to in this day of Google Streetview and smart phones but if you want to record your rides for analysis and have the ability to find your way out of a pickle (should you get lost), then it's pretty good.

Right then, further to what sitting duck says, the battery life can be up to 36 hours with fancy batteries and I can't seem to find any negatives.

Hell, they're still going for double the Halfords price on eBay! Well I think that's me convinced!

I have the 705, standard battery fit, & just done Hadrians cycleway over 3 days. It lasted for 3 days without recharging, so battery life shouldn't be too much of an issue for regular riding
