For those who dont go for the lycra look, LIDLs sports tops are usually pretty good, the £4.99 one in black looks plenty good enough.

Mine ceased to work too for the same reason. Just as useful unlit as very effective reflective wear. Can't remember how far away they could be seen with the led lights on but a very good range as simple reflectives. I think the glare drowned out the led's effectivness somewhat. Spare CR2032 batteries if you don't light them up. Worth every penny.

Sorry if the avatar caused any distress! I better change it. I found it on the web and apparently it's pretty common for squirrels to leap into your wheels while you're moving along. It hasn't happened with me yet thankfully. Poor little guys
